Imran Khan to make his comeback with Aamir Khan’s production Happy Patel? Here’s what we know

Imran Khan – who is known for his stellar performances in films such as Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, Delhi Belly, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and more, is all set to make his Bollywood comeback. The actor was last seen on the big screen in the 2015 Katti Batti. In a recent chat, he revealed that the box office failure of the Kangana Ranaut co-starrer influenced his decision to take a step back from films. 

However, less than a year ago, he revealed he was all set to make his comeback. Imran was set to return to acting with an Abbas Tyrewala web series as an intelligence officer. However, the  Disney+Hotstar’s espionage thriller series – being produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, was put on the backburner. Now, a report reveals that Imran will be making a comeback in a project being produced by his uncle Aamir Khan. Read on to know all we know about it.

Imran Khan to make comeback with Happy Patel

As per a recent Peepingmoon report, Imran Khan is all set to begin the second phase of his career. Interestingly, just like his first stint in the industry, his maternal uncle, Aamir Khan will be launching him. Aamir first launched Imran as a child actor in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and then as the leading man in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008).

Talking about Imran Khan’s comeback film, an industry source said, “Imran has finally locked in his comeback project, nearly eight months after he hinted at the possibility of returning to movies last year. He will star in and as Happy Patel in a quirky comedy produced by Aamir Khan Productions. The film is a laugh-riot and is set in a familiar yet uniquely fresh world, reminiscent of Imran’s previous works. Shooting has already commenced in Goa.”

Vir Das, Imran’s co-star from Delhi Belly, will be directing this film. This venture will mark his foray into direction following 17 years of acting career. Mona Singh – who has appeared in films like 3 Idiots and Laal Singh Chaddha, will play a pivotal part in the narrative. The casting of the female lead is still under wraps. The report also suggests that the ‘Dangal’ actor is likely to make a cameo appearance, however, there’s no confirmation yet.
